Scouting offers numerous age-appropriate activities and events for members of your unit.

ACTIVITIES

The Dan Beard Council brings you special activities for your Scouts from our partners across the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area all year round! Events include Scout Days with the Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Cyclones, Newport Aquarium, Kentucky Kingdom & Hurricane Bay, and more! Be sure to visit the Scout It Out page often as events and special offers are added throughout the year.

Cub Scouting is fun for the whole family.  In Scouting, boys and girls start with their best right now selves and grow into their very best future selves. With activities such as Cub-O-Rees, Spook-O-Rees and Cub Camp events to list a few. It’s fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and for life.

With more than 130 Merit Badges—from Archery and Art to Welding and Wilderness Survival—Scouting is the ultimate form of learning by doing. Scouts explore their interests and improve their skills while working toward Scouting’s highest rank: Eagle. By first imagining, planning then doing their own service projects, Scouts learn the value of hard work, and experience the thrill of seeing it pay off. Add in outdoor adventures, hiking and camping, and Scouting gives youth experience that will benefit them throughout their life.

For over 100 years, the Order of the Arrow (OA) has recognized Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. This recognition provides encouragement for others to live these ideals as well. Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long term resident camping, and providing cheerful service to others. OA service, activities, adventures, and training for youth and adults are models of quality leadership development and programming that enrich and help to extend Scouting to America’s youth.

Scouting tests a boy or girl’s physical and mental abilities through challenging outdoor activities and interpersonal interactions until they have been molded into a strong young person. The mission of Peterloon is to challenge our Scouts with personal and team challenges that demand strength and skill, exhibitions that test their perseverance and intellect, and a variety of activities that are purely fun and entertaining. Scouts and Scouters alike will demonstrate their know how and skills by participating in the various Action Center activities during the event.

Help other people at all times. It’s not enough to recite those words from the Scout Oath. We are called to put them into action. In that spirit, the Dan Beard Council partnered with the Freestore Foodbank to launch Scouting for Food, a Council-wide service project that collects food for those in need across the Dan Beard Council service area.

The World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) is the largest regular event organized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), gathering up to 50,000 Scouts from more than 150 countries around the World.  It is an educational event to promote peace and understanding among young people from different cultures.  The World Scout Jamboree includes many activities available at the Summit Bechtel Scout Reserve.  For more information, visit the host website at 2019wsj.org. The 2019 WSJ will be the 24th Jamboree in Scouting history. The first Jamboree took place in England in 1920.
