The Spook-O-Ree is a family Halloween event for everyone! Take your pick of evenings and join the thousands of families that will venture out to Cub World for Halloween fun in a safe, family-friendly environment at a cost that fits just about any budget. The Spook-O-Ree is packed with activities including storytelling, the haunted castle, midway games, the haunted trail, and more! Come as a pack, a den, or as a family. And everyone is invited, so bring your friends!

There’s tons to do at the Spook-O-Ree! As a family event, every activity is designed to involve the whole family. The evening is packed with fun and games, and with so much to do, you might have a hard time fitting it all in in. Most activities are great for every age, but some are designed for older kids looking for a little fright. One thing is for certain — there’s something for everyone at the Spook-O-Ree!

Spook-o-Ree Activities

The Cub World nature trail is usually a quiet and beautiful walk through the woods. But during Halloween, the ghosts and creepy things that haunt the Little Miami River come out to play! Venture into the woods and get a scare. Spooky lighting, creepy fog, and mysterious scenes will be found along your way. Beware of monsters that jump and scream – the haunted trail may not be appropriate for young children.

After dusk, groups will be leaving to walk the trail regularly throughout the night and the trail can be visited an unlimited number of times.  Keep in mind that the haunted trail might be a little too intense for the younger ones!

Time to have some Halloween fun! Try your hand at the many themed games on the Spook-O-Ree midway. Games include Frankenstein feet, spider ring toss, and much more! The games vary in skill from easy to challenging, with a little something for everyone. Participants of these games of skill and chance will receive special tokens with extra tokens going to the winners. Tokens can be spent at the prize booth, and with several tiers of prizes available, a lot of the fun of the Spook-O-Ree is saving up your tokens to get the biggest prize you can!

10 tickets that can be used for games or food are included with the price of admission. Additional tickets are 25 cents each and can be purchased at one of the ticket booths.

The Cub World castle is being haunted by ghouls and goblins! Do you dare venture in to see the spooky scenes awaiting you? Tour each room and up and around the top of the castle and get a scare. The haunted castle will be open after dark and running continuously throughout the evening. Once you enter the haunted castle, follow the path up, down, and around and see what’s happening in each room. This activity may not be appropriate for younger children, as their may be some frightening scenes – beware!

The castle will be closed early in the evening and open for scares once darkness has fallen.

Looking for a safe and fun way to go trick-or-treating? Avoid the hazards of traffic, strangers, and other dangers and do your trick-or-treating at the Spook-O-Ree this year. Visit the Cub World Fort, where kids can go door to door and fill up their sacks with some tasty treats (and maybe a trick or two). This is the perfect way to take your family trick-or-treating with no worries. Behind each door will be a character with plenty of candy to share, including all the favorites and even chocolate candy bars.

Trick-or-treating is open all night long. Each participant will be given a coupon good for one round of trick-or-treating. Recommended for all ages.

Challenge yourself to the Spook-O-Ree mysterious maze – a crazy maze wandering through walls of secret passages and dead-end corridors. Two challenges are available – a simple maze that is great for the little ones, and a full-wall maze for those looking for something a little more difficult. Try double the fun and complete both mazes if you can. Can you find the end and ring the bell? This is a great family activity for all ages.

The Mysterious Maze is open all night long, can be run as many times as you like, and is included with the price of admission. Recommended for all ages.

At the Spook-O-Ree, everyone is encouraged to wear their best Halloween costume (adults too!). Part of the fun of the Spook-O-Ree is seeing all your Cub Scout friends in their great costumes. During the event, contestants should stop by the booth at the Games Midway (at the Archery Range) to have their picture taken and enter in the judging. At 8:30pm, all the contestants will gather at the Food Court by the Big Boy Pavilion for the winners to be announced. Participants must be present to win.
