WHAT is NYLT?
National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an exciting, action-packed program designed to provide youth members of the Boy Scouts of America with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home unit and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others. This week long outdoor experience is set up to represent a month in the life of a typical Scout unit. Scouts will develop an understanding of group formation and development. They will also have hands-on leadership experiences.

The Board of Directors of the Dan Beard Council believe that adult leader training is essential in ensuring that all registered youth receive the best Scouting program possible. Adult leader training help leaders get acquainted with the Scouting program, how it works and how to implement it, while delivering a fun and exciting experience for the youth. Therefore, units rechartering on or before December 31, 2010, a three year training initiative has been established to achieve a goal of 100% trained unit leaders.

It's easy to check training records to see that your ScoutNet records match the training you or your unit members have completed. Just log into MyScouting.org , click on “Training Validation,” then check to see if your trainings have been recorded in the Council’s computer system.
We are encouraging all units to use this system to check the training status of all registered leaders. All you need is a list of everyone’s membership ID Numbers and you can review the training status of the registered adult leaders. A list of these numbers can be found on your charter paperwork or you can obtain a list from your District Professional.
