Cincinnati Community ToolBank Hosts Building on Our Community Event in partnership with the Dan Beard Council, Boy Scouts of America

On September 29, 2018 at the Dan Beard Reservation in Loveland, Ohio, the Cincinnati Community ToolBank hosted more than 70+ construction professionals who picked up their hammers to help local Scouts. The volunteers comprised of employees from local construction, contracting and architecture companies including; Baker Concrete Construction, Inc., Messer Construction Company, Skanska USA, Miller- Valentine Group, HGC Construction, and many more.

Each year, the Cincinnati ToolBank coordinates a hands-on volunteer day in support of one of its nonprofit partner agencies. For 2018, Building on Our Community assisted the Dan Beard Scout Reservation by completing several skilled construction projects at their Camp Craig location. Volunteers built several outdoor shelters, rehab existing bathroom facilities and constructed picnic tables that are used by more than 25,000 scouts and camp visitors next year.

This year, construction related projects will include building 2-3 new shelters for Camp Craig. Volunteers will also assist with helping to set up Peterloon, the longest continuously operating camporee in the history of Scouting – a council tradition since 1927. 2019 marks the 100th Anniversary of Camp Friedlander with Peterloon being the “capstone” event and will take place the weekend after Building.
