The Spirit of Scouting Breakfast is an event which recognizes community leaders that exemplify servant leadership, scouting values and serve as a role model to young people. This event is one of the premier fundraising events in the Ft. Hamilton District, increasing awareness and support in the community. Donations support local programming and outreach services for youth through the Boy Scouts of America Program. We choose our esteemed honoree for his community service past and present, including his leadership roles supporting many youth initiatives throughout our communities.
Proceeds from the event benefit over 1,500 youth in the Scouting program in Butler County. Please join us to congratulate and thank our honoree for his service and commitment to Butler County and Greater Cincinnati.

Congratulations to Greg Wilkens, the Spirit of Scouting’s 2024 Honoree!
With 50 years of service to the residents, businesses, communities, and traveling public of Butler County, Ohio, few people have had a greater impact on the safety and efficiency of the area’s roadway system than Greg Wilkens. Outside of three years (1998-2000) as Executive Director of the Butler County Transportation Improvement District (TID), Greg has been employed at the Butler County Engineer’s Office (BCEO) since 1973. Serving in the elected position of County Engineer since 2001, he has achieved over $480 million in safety improvements for Butler County.
He received the David P. Brand Safety Award two consecutive years for his use of roundabouts to increase safety throughout Butler County: in 2021 at the state level by the County Engineers Association of Ohio (CEAO) and in 2022 at the national level by the National Association of County Engineers (NACE).
A registered Professional Engineer and Professional Surveyor, Greg resides in Fairfield, Ohio, with his wife, Pam. They have two children and four grandchildren.
