Position Specific Training

Position Specific Training is a course required for registered leaders of all Scouting programs levels (Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturing) to earn their “Trained”status.  The Position Specific Training program is tailored to the specific position that the leader holds. It provides the specialized knowledge a new leader needs to assume a leadership role. Position Specific Training is available online at the BSA Learn Center through my.scouting.org.  you ca also attend a training taught by informed volunteers on a district or council level.

Position Specific Training should be taken after Youth Protection Training and This is Scouting.

Because each position’s responsibilities are different, the time of the training can vary from two to six hours.

Starting April 30, 2018, new Direct Contact Leaders must complete Hazardous Weather Training to be considered position trained.  If you are now trained in your current position, at this time you are not required to take this training to maintain your trained status.  Hazardous Weather Training is available online at the BSA Learn Center.

The Dan Beard Council offers several opportunities for leaders to get the training they need to deliver an impactful program for their Scouts.  Leaders can find upcoming opportunities for in person training at www.danbeard.org/upcomingtraining.  Trainings are offered throughout the council, and leaders are welcome to attend any of the trainings, regardless of location.  Leaders can also finish the training online through the BSA Learn Center.
