Scouts BSA Leader Position Specific Training
Scouts BSA Leader Position Specific Training is designed to provide training specific to each area of the Scouts BSA program. These courses are taught by informed trainers who know how to engage groups and make learning fun. These courses are offered by the district or council as group training, or may be done as small groups or by personal coaching. Prior to taking this training, leaders should complete Youth Protection Training.
Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Specific shows you how to teach boys and girls to lead their own Troop. This course may be presented in one six-hour session or in three shorter sessions on different days.
The three sessions will cover:
- The role of a Scoutmaster in a Boy-Led or Girl-Led troop
- Lighting the Fire: The Outdoor Program and the Advancement Program
- Keeping it going: Program Planning and Troop Administration
In addition, each session provides training specific to that leader position. If you are entering a different position in the Troop, attend the Position Specific Training for that position.
Position Specific Training is available online at the BSA Learn Center through my.scouting.org.
