JOIN SCOUT NIGHT TRAINING

All Cub Scout Leaders! We’re excited to welcome everyone back to some events later this summer. Join us for an in-person Join Scout Night Training at one of our convenient locations across the Council! To help everyone feel comfortable, we’ve added additional training this year to help spread out attendance.

At this membership recruitment training called “Join Scout Night”, leaders will learn about this year’s new recruitment campaign including the marketing strategies and materials in place to help you reach new families. Please make sure your Pack is represented at one of the Membership Recruitment Trainings.

We encourage at least one representative from each Pack attend the Join Scout Night Training(s) to learn about our coordinated strategy and to receive marketing materials such as yard signs, posters, applications, Bring a Friend cards, etc.

ABOUT JOIN SCOUT NIGHT TRAINING

School will be starting throughout Dan Beard Council over the next few weeks. As students head back to school, it also means it’s time to invite new families to participate in the Scouting program. We recognize that schools will be delivered differently this year, so peer to peer recruitment and individual invitations to join Scouting will be more important than ever.

Hopefully your Pack will be represented at one of our membership recruitment training sessions (called Join Scout Night Trainings) that will take place over the next couple of weeks.

If you have not already done so, get your Pack info/handouts ready to go (Pack contacts/calendar/basic info). You will need these items at signup and perhaps at a variety of other events during the next month where your Pack will be represented. All Cub Scout families will receive a Parent Power Packet mailing with details about how every family can contribute to recruitment efforts including the #ScoutSHARE social media campaign and contest over the next several weeks.

Pack Responsibilities:

  • Work with your district executive staff to plan and coordinate Membership Recruitment sign-up events (date/time/location/contact) in the next few days.
  • Look up your Pack/Troop/Crew on www.BeAScout.org. Update any info as appropriate now before the wave of inquiries hit email inbox for your group.
  • Make sure your Pack participates in back-to-school events and open houses.
  • Schedule and prepare for your Parent Orientation to be held a week or so after your Membership Recruitment event.
  • Get the word out in your community about the membership recruitment event. The earlier the better!
    • Yard signs, posters, community newspaper, church bulletin, community/school/church marquees, etc.
  • Activate and setup online registration (optional)
