WELCOME DAN BEARD COUNCIL

The mission of the Dan Beard Council is to prepare more than 30,000 youth and adults in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

About Online Registration

Scouting families and prospective Scouting families have asked for it, and now it is here! Beginning this fall, the traditional paper registration method will not be the only way to join Scouting. The Boy Scouts of America will offer online registration to select BETA councils to meet the demand for completing the entire registration process for youth members and adult leaders more efficiently. This is a giant leap forward in allowing prospective members and leaders to register in a way that’s convenient for them, and it creates a more efficient and user-friendly registration experience for units, districts, and councils.

Before You Start – Preparation Checklist

There are important steps you must take to prepare! It is critical that you complete all items on the checklist for your Scouting role below to ensure you are granted the necessary permissions to work within the online registration system. Access to information, and the ability to take action within the system, is granted based on these permissions. To have the appropriate access, your role, council name, and a valid email address must be listed correctly in your my.scouting tools profile.

The Scout Achievement Center

The Scout Achievement Center opened in July, 2009, and has been quickly recognized as the premier Scouting volunteer training facility and council service center in the nation. As a silver level LEED certified building, the facility was constructed and operates according to green standards and is an example of the conservation and ecologically-sound teachings of the Scouting program. The SAC serves as a great home for Scouting and we invite you to visit and take a tour or have a unit meeting. Click here to learn more about the SAC.

The well-stocked Scout Shop offers a great selection and is open during convenient hours for the purchase of books, advancements and awards. Uniforms and camping equipment are also stocked in the Scout Shop to meet your unit’s needs.

About the Dan Beard Council

The Dan Beard Council is the administrative body of the the Boy Scouts of America in the Greater Cincinnati area. The council administers the Scouting program through 8 districts, providing volunteer support, training, program opportunities, and administrative services such as membership and advancement records, new unit development, and unit fundraising opportunities in the form of the annual popcorn sale. Hundreds of Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Venturing Crews, Varsity Teams, Explorer Posts, and Learning for Life groups make up the membership of the council.

Four camp properties are operated by the council including Camp Friedlander, Camp Craig, Cub World, and Camp Michaels. Each year, over 5000 youth will participate in summer camp programs and another 20,000 will enjoy the camps in various seasonal events and unit outings.
