Scouting Program Updates

Tuesday, May 5, 2020 – Since our last update, the Ohio state government has put forth a plan for the re-opening of businesses. Following that guidance, the Dan Beard Council has developed a plan that transitions the Scout Achievement Center toward more regular operations.

Beginning next week (May 11), many of our staff will start to return to their desks at the office. There will be some transition and some alternating schedules, especially during the first week. It is important to note that the Scout Achievement Center will remain closed to all visitors this week, with the exception of the Wednesday morning drop-off period (10am-12pm). The council staff will be eager to help you during this time, but all interaction will need to be done by telephone or e-mail. Please call the front desk at (513) 577-7700 or view our Staff Directory for assistance.

Beginning on Tuesday, May 19, the Scout Shop and Scout Achievement Center front desk will re-open. Both will be operating from 9am-5pm daily, with no late hours or weekends until after Memorial Day. No group meetings or events will be held until permitted by government directive.

Unit Meetings
Please remember that no in-person Scout meetings should be held until your area reaches Phase 2 of the White House’s plan to re-open America. Under Phase 2, there will be group size limitations and other guidance.

In the meanwhile, all Scouting units and committees should continue to conduct meetings as virtual gatherings using conference calls or online video conferencing.

Summer Camp
The Dan Beard Council continues to work hard on options for summer camping programs. It is our intention to make an announcement in mid-May (likely May 18) about our operational plans.

During this time, our camp properties remain closed to the public. No date for re-opening will be announced until a final determination on summer camp has been made.

The latest information for both summer camp and other activities at our camps is available at www.danbeard.org/camping
