The Graeter Family, Graeter’s Ice cream

Since 1870, five generations of the Graeter family have remained committed to handcrafting only the most indulgent ice cream available.  From humble beginnings serving ice cream from a cart in Cincinnati to the nationwide presence of Graeter’s Ice Cream today, the family has stubbornly held to ideals and processes of the founding generation. Members of the 3^rd, 4^th, and 5^th generations continue to work in the business every day, ensuring that customers get truly the best ice cream they have ever tasted.

Graeter’s Ice Cream is currently led by 4^th generation owners Richard and Chip Graeter. Under the 4^th generation’s leadership, Graeter’s has expanded its reach, with 56 retail scoop shops throughout the Midwest, national distribution in grocery stores, and online orders shipped directly to consumers, helping bring the indulgence of Graeter’s to more ice cream lovers across the country. Several fifth-generation family members are currently working in the business as they prepare to take over the reins and hope to build on the legacy and standard of excellence that Graeter’s has achieved for over 150 years.
