Annual Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000

Position Summary & Objectives
The STEC Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for the day-to-day operational execution of programs at the Dever Family Foundation Skilled Trades Education Center (STEC). This role ensures that instructional programs are delivered safely, efficiently, and consistently in support of the Center’s mission to provide high-quality skilled trades education and workforce development.
Working closely with STEC Steering Committee, Dan Beard Council leadership, volunteer instructors, and partner organizations, the OM serves as the catalyst in the STEC, ensuring a safe workspace and high operating standards. The OM coordinates schedules, space requirements, equipment & materials usage, and administrative processes that all result in a positive learning experience for all participants. This is a part-time role for an individual with a proven track record of customer excellence and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with volunteer and professional leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations and Program Scheduling.
- Maintain a master calendar and coordinate with schools, community groups and partner organizations.
- Ensure instructional space, equipment and materials are available for each class session.
- Maintain high standards. Ensure classrooms, equipment bays, common areas, and grounds are clean, functional, and professional.
- Oversee daily facility operations to include opening/ closing procedures, equipment set-up, and scheduling coordination.
- Support efficient set-up and teardown of classrooms and skilled trades training spaces.
- Conduct facility tours for prospective renters and be a resource to instructors as they utilize the facility.
- Instructor & Volunteer Coordination.
- Serve as the primary operational contact for volunteer instructors and client organizations.
- Ensure that instructors are familiar with Merit Badge Lesson Plans, Safety guidelines, equipment and materials in advance.
- Facility, Equipment & Tools Management.
- Oversee day-to-day readiness of instructional training spaces.
- Coordinate proper storage, maintenance, and inventory of tools, equipment and consumable supplies.
- Identify ongoing needs and purchase required equipment.
- Safety & Compliance.
- Enforce all safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure safety briefings are conducted, and PPE is available/ used for STEC classes.
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability across all programs.
- Ensure compliance with local safety, fire, health, building codes and Dan Beard Council STEC Usage Guidelines.
- Student & Participant Support.
- Serve as an operational contact for students, parents, and partner organizations.
- Assist with special needs or accommodations.
- Help to create a welcoming, organized, and professional learning environment.
- Support workforce development, career exploration, and hands-on learning.
- Administrative & Recordkeeping.
- Maintain accurate operational records for equipment inventory and materials usage.
- Assist with preparation of reports for leadership, advisory boards, donors, and grant requirements.
- Budget & Resource Support.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
- Assist with tracking operational expenses and the STEC budget.
- Coordinate STEC purchases and in-kind contributions.
- Communication & Coordination.
- Act as the STEC liaison among DBC leadership, volunteer instructors, and partner organizations.
- Supply schedules, photos, and program details to support Marketing and outreach efforts.
- Professionally represent the STEC at meetings, events, and community functions.
- Continuous Improvement.
- Regularly gather feedback by interfacing with volunteer instructors and students.
- Identify gaps in the operation and recommend improvements to processes and workflows.
- Identify and implement new ideas to contribute to a safe, inclusive, respectful, and professional environment for all participants.

- Experience in operations or facilities management.

work requirements
- Part-Time position averaging 25 to 30 hours per week.
- Flexible Schedule, to include early mornings, some evenings, and weekends when aligned with classes and events.
- On-Site Presence: Required during active instructional sessions and events.
- Ability to frequently walk through the facility and lift up to 40 pounds.
