Position Summary & Objectives

The Annual Fund Manager leads the Council’s annual giving program, providing essential unrestricted support for Scouting’s mission. This role develops and executes fundraising strategies that grow donor participation, increase retention, and strengthen support from individuals, families, alumni, Eagle Scouts, volunteers, corporations, and community partners.

The Annual Fund Manager oversees the Friends of Scouting campaign, annual appeals, monthly giving, donor stewardship, and the Daniel Carter Beard Society while working closely with District leadership to deliver State of Scouting presentations that inspire philanthropic investment.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead the Council’s Annual Fund and Friends of Scouting campaigns.
  • Plan and execute direct mail, email, digital, and year-end fundraising appeals.
  • Cultivate and steward a portfolio of annual donors and leadership giving prospects.
  • Grow membership and retention in the Daniel Carter Beard Society.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteer fundraising leaders and campaign committees.
  • Partner with District leadership to coordinate State of Scouting presentations for community organizations and businesses.
  • Analyze campaign performance, donor trends, and fundraising results to maximize success.
  • Collaborate with the Development and Marketing teams to achieve annual fundraising goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, or annual giving.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in fundraising, development, sales, marketing, or relationship management.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with volunteers and donor databases (Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel throughout the Council service area.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
