The Silver Beaver Alumni Association sponsors Camp Conservation Days that will ensure that the beautiful and natural areas of the Dan Beard Scout Reservation and Camp Michaels are preserved for future youth.

Camp Conservation Days are an great way for Scouts to earn service hours while working to conserve our camp properties. These days of organized projects include tree-planting, erosion control, honeysuckle removal, trail maintenance, and other conservation projects.

Groups that participate learn about lake ecosystems and help create a healthy environment for the plants and animals that share our camps. This event promotes a sense of ownership in our camps for all those who participate. Each group that participates will earn a Conservation Ribbon and Scouts can earn service hours for rank advancement, school requirements, award requirements, and more.

Silver Beaver Award

The Silver Beaver Award is bestowed upon those persons who have given continued, unselfish, and effective service to the community, usually through a program of Scouting America, but not limited to Scouting. Because Scouters may not nominate themselves for this award, only those persons who have been nominated by their Scouting peers are considered. The Silver Beaver Award is the highest recognition a local Council can bestow upon volunteer leaders.

Eligibility

  • Long-established policy limits the award of the Silver Beaver to adults 21 and older who are registered with Scouting America as volunteer Scouters.
  • Nominations will not be considered for current or former professional Scouters within five (5) years of their leaving employment with Scouting America. Other council employees (part time or full time) are eligible to receive the Silver Beaver Award based on their volunteer service, not employed service.
  • Nominations cannot be considered for posthumous awards.
