Time

Dan Beard Council has a wide range of volunteer opportunities. Primary ways to get involved:

Packs & Troops

Many individual troops and pack units throughout our area need help executing their programs.

  • Cubmaster / Scoutmaster and Assistants: Serve as the primary connection to the development of youth. They run the program, supervise Scouts, prioritize safety, and drive recruitment and advancement.
    • Number of Positions: Unlimited
    • Locations: All over our region
  • Troop and Pack Committee Members: Committee Members are the heart of the administration in our local program. They help drive membership, fundraising, unit operations, training, and more.

District Committees

Districts are smaller geographic areas that typically map to the counties in Greater Cincinnati. Each District helps bring Scouting to the local area and provides resources to service Troops and Packs.

  • District Committee Chairs: Help lead the effort in various areas of the District including fundraising, driving membership, hosting activities like camporees, and promoting new units.
  • District Committee Members: These volunteers help each of the subcommittees of the District and are the people who really help make things run.
  • District Commissioners: Experienced Scouters who help support the program and membership of Troops and Packs. They help connect regional resources to the local program. They also provide support and mentoring to Scout Pack and Troop leaders.

Council Committees

Similar to District Committees, Council Committees look after similar areas of responsibility across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. The Council frequently needs experienced volunteers to serve on various committees. Other special committees at the Council level would include the following:

  • Program Committees:
    • Special Events: Help the council coordinate a variety of events including Peterloon (council camporee), Scouting U (adult training), Scouting for Food, and much, much more!
    • Cope and Climbing: Help the council provide teamwork and leadership training
    • Order of the Arrow: Adult leaders for the Order of the Arrow Scout leadership
    • Training: Help provide training across the region
    • And many more!
  • Camp-Focused Programs:
    • Campmaster: Help maintain camps including providing leadership, safety, and first aid for units that are camping at council properties
    • Rangemaster: Provide leadership, training, and safety instruction to units using the camp’s rifle, shotgun, and archery facilities
