Motoman Robotics Donates Robots to the Dever Family Skilled Trades Education Center
Dan Beard Council, Scouting America is proud to announce the generous donation of two industrial robots from Motoman Robotics, a division of Yaskawa America, Inc., headquartered in Miamisburg, Ohio. The robots will become a centerpiece of hands-on technology and automation training at the new Dever Family Foundation Scouting Skilled Trades Education Center, currently under construction at Camp Friedlander in Loveland, Ohio.
These advanced robotics systems will allow Scouts to gain real-world experience in automation and programming—skills that are increasingly in demand across today’s skilled trades and manufacturing sectors. The robots will support the Council’s mission to prepare youth not only for life, but also for meaningful, future-ready careers.
“We are incredibly grateful to Motoman Robotics for this exciting and impactful gift,” said Andy Zahn, Scout Executive and CEO of Dan Beard Council. “This partnership helps bring cutting-edge technology directly into the hands of young people. These robots will empower thousands of Scouts over the years to explore robotics, engineering, and advanced manufacturing in ways that are both engaging and educational. It’s a game-changer for our workforce development efforts and a perfect example of industry and Scouting working together to build a stronger future.”
Motoman Robotics, known globally for its innovation in automation and robotic systems, made the donation as part of its commitment to workforce development and STEM education in Ohio and beyond. The company’s support reflects a growing movement of industry leaders investing in youth training programs through Scouting.
Construction on the Skilled Trades Education Center is expected to be completed in January 2026, with robotics programming and other trade-focused training to launch shortly after.
