Leader Training Descriptions
BALOO Training – This one day course is designed as a introduction to the Cub Scout outdoor program for leaders who want to add a camping component to their pack activities. BSA’s Cub Scout level camping policies will be taught along with the necessary tools to help units carry out a successful camping experience. Completion of this course is mandatory for at least one adult on a pack overnighter.
Boy Scout Leader Training – The course will provide Scoutmasters with the basic information and tools they need to lead successful Boy Scout troops. Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters who complete this course, Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills, and Youth Protection Training are considered “trained” for those positions.
Cub Scout All-Inclusive Leader Training – This course is intended to provide ALL Cub Scout leaders (den leaders, committee members, committee chairs, cubmasters and more) with the information and tools they need to conduct successful meetings. Leaders who complete this training, along with Youth Protection training, are considered trained for their position.
Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills – Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the outdoors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specifics this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Boy Scout troops and Varsity teams, in order to be considered “trained.”
Den Chief Training – Den chiefs are required to be trained to hold their position. Boys will be taught the inner workings of a den, how to assist adult leaders and how to best help a den with requirements, games and activities.
Charter Organization Representative Training – This training is held annually, and outlines the importance of the partnership between the charter organization and it’s Scouting unit. Topics frequently covered include service projects, insurance and more.
