Career Opportunity: Community Relationships & Development Executive

The Dan Beard Council, Boy Scouts of America, has fantastic opportunity for a high-performing individual with some experience or educational background in fundraising, relationship building, and program management.  The council is working to expand its programing in and around the urban core of Cincinnati.  This position is an excellent fit for someone with a passion for supporting programing for inner-city youth.

Responsibilities include:

Fundraising:

  • Lead efforts related to fundraising efforts to support outreach programs.  These duties include participation in a large organization-wide special event, as well as leading a smaller special event of just outreach-related donors.
  • Expand donor base by cultivating corporate and community leaders to support Scouting.
  • Manage relationships with major donors through newsletters, visits, and other communication.

Community & School Relationships:

  • Support and growth the Dan Beard Council’s relationship with the Cincinnati Public School District on a wide-range of projects including in-school programing, Cub Scouting, and other programs.
  • Manage relationship with businesses and government organizations that sponsor Exploring programs.
  • Work with community and civic organizations to grow and expand the Scouting program in the city.

Program Support:

  • Support a partnership that the Dan Beard Council has with CPS to offer a character education curriculum.
  • Directly coordinate the council’s work to involve high school students from CPS in career awareness Exploring programs.
  • Recruit volunteers to support special programs and events.

Miscellaneous:

  • Report on progress on all assigned projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Outreach Director or Deputy Scout Executive.

To qualify for this position, the candidate will have:

  • Possess a team-oriented, friendly, and proactive personality with demonstrated ability to motivate, lead, and collaborate with colleagues and volunteers to achieve success.
  • Desire to build and support programs that benefit the region’s inner-city youth.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Superb organization skills; detailed oriented with strong follow-through and the ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Ability to self-motivate, multi-task and juggle multiple projects with competing priorities across multiple teams.  Openness to continued learning and enhancement of skills.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft office.
  • Willingness to work with volunteers and co-workers toward the completion of goals.
