
APEX Rangers at Camp Friedlander
ADVANCED PREPAREDNESS EXPERIENCE
The APEX Ranger program gives Scouts (14 years and older) a chance to use the skills they have learned in Scouting, in a safe situation, with a Wilderness Survival Theme. The program is structured around 3 outposts throughout the week.
Scouts will have to chance to refresh or learn new skills like:
- Natural Fire Building
- Tracking
- Shelter Building
- Raft Building
- Foraging
- Water Purification
- Orienteering
- Wilderness First Aid
- Pioneering
- Plant Identification
- Signaling
- Astronomy
- And MORE!
Overview
Scouts registered in the APEX Ranger program will spend Monday planning their Outpost locations and itineraries for Tuesday-Friday. Monday afternoon, they will spend time doing COPE activities around camp.
The group will sleep in their Troop campsite Sunday, Monday, and Friday nights. They will head to their first Outpost location Tuesday Morning, after breakfast.
Scouts will cook 1 or 2 meals a day (Breakfast/Lunch) at their Outpost location. They will return to main camp for Dinner each day, and will have the opportunity to participate in Open and Evening Programming before making their way back to their Outpost for the night.

The APEX Rangers program is taking the place of the previous Older Scout program – Advanced Camper Experience (ACE).
