2014 marks the return of Peterloon, the longest running Council Jamboree in the Nation and the  premier Scouting event in the region.  Join us in October for action and adventure and find out if  you are tougher than a Boy Scout!

Join 6,000 Scouts and Scouters and participate in over 40 activities for youth and interact with 50+ exhibitors in the midway.  Cap it all off with an all new arena show featuring YOUR talents and those of our toughest Scouts.

Also new in 2014, you and your Troop can enjoy the high-octane adventure at Camp Friedlander, the region's premier Scout Camp, by camping in Sub-Camp ZERO and participating in our new curriculum programs for only the toughest amongst you.  These programs will test you mentally and physically so begin preparing now!

Registration opens at 9am on April 1st with camp sites assigned on a first come, first serve basis.  Early registrants will be placed closest to the Action Center at Lower Camp Craig or will have the best shot at getting into Sub-Camp ZERO at Camp Friedlander.  Cost is the same as 2012: $19 early discount, $26 regular fee.  Remember, registration closes 30-days out so make your plans today and we'll see YOU at Peterloon!

The "DON"T MISS EVENT" for all Webelos is Webelos Outdoor Weekend (WOW), the one weekend for Webelos to experience what its like to be Boy Scouts!.  Your Webelos Den will camp side by side with Boy Scout Troops from your District and around the Council at our world class Boy Scout Camp - CAMP FRIEDLANDER.  On Saturday, Webelos will travel from activity to activity learning Scouting skills and putting them to use.  Webelos will have the opportunity to learn firebuilding, plant identification, knots & lashings, campsite & tent set up, first aid, team building and physical fitness, fish in our lake, and more from Boy Scouts and Scout Leaders.  Saturday night, Webelos will join Boy Scouts for a Summer Camp style campfire followed by crackerbarrels at the Troop campsites.  Sunday, we will conduct a Scout's Own service (the 12th point of the Scout Law is "A Scout is Reverent) and we will break camp.

Note: Webelos Week is  designed to help Webelos prepare for and get a taste of Boy Scouting.  For this reason, we will not be offering traditional Cub Scout activities like bb gun and bow & arrow shooting, etc.

Hike to the site where Scouting REALLY began...

A FREE family friendly event! Enjoy a 5 mile hike featuring a stop at Daniel Carter Beard's childhood home in Covington, Kentucky, the place where a young Dan Beard played in the woods developing a love of the outdoors that would one day become the foundation for the Boy Scouts of America.  Our hike will take you through 3 cities in 2 states and across 3 historic bridges over 2 major rivers!  Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Ohio River from the Roebling Bridge, Sawyer Point and Yeatman's Cove as you learn about the deep, rich history of our community.

Microsoft and Dan Beard Council Partnership

The Dan Beard Council, BSA and the Cincinnati Microsoft Store have partnered together to provide local Scouts with the opportunity to earn advancements while having fun for FREE.  As of the start of the year, Dan Beard Council launched a new initiative with the brand new Microsoft Store in Kenwood to offer free classes teaching Cub Scout Belt Loops (Computer, Photography, and Video Games) and Boy Scout Merit Badges (Computer, Photography, or Cinematography). Scouts will complete the requirements to earn their advancements in a unique way while exploring the latest in new technology!
