Camping at its Best

Camping is the heart of the Scouting program and through experiences in the outdoors, Scouts build character, learn important new skills, practice leadership, and build the character values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Dan Beard Council operates four camps -- Camp Friedlander, Camp Craig, Cub World, and Camp Michaels -- that each offer something unique for you, your unit, or your organization...

The Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area has a long history of providing great Scouting programs to youth. In fact, the original land donation at Camp Friedlander dates back to 1919! Since that time, the times and the camps themselves have changed, but the values of the Scouting program have stayed just as vital as ever.

The programs offered at our council camps are known as some of the best around, and the continuous updating of our facilities has brought the Dan Beard Council recognition as having some of the most modern and impressive camps in the nation. We encourage all Scouts, Scouters, their families and friends, to take advantage of the opportunities available at our camps and explore these beautiful properties first-hand.

Camp Friedlander, Camp Craig, and Cub World make up the Dan Beard Scout Reservation located inside the I-275 loop on the banks of the Little Miami River in Loveland, Ohio. This over 500-acre property offers world-class camping facilities with nearly 120 structures, three lakes, dozens of campsites, modern restrooms, and numerous indoor accommodations. It is also home to our summer camp programs: Camp Friedlander Boy Scout Camp, Resident Camp, Fun with Son, and Challenge Camp.

Camp Michaels, about 25 minutes from downtown Cincinnati in Union, Kentucky, is a jewel in Kentucky back-country. This 700-acre property is mostly untamed woods and hills centered around the wild Gunpowder Creek. Primitive facilities offer a return-to-nature style camping and encourage exploration of the wonders of the outdoors.

Our camps host many large Scouting events including Peterloon, Spook-O-Ree, Webelos Outdoor Weekend, National Youth Leader Training, and Wood Badge. Districts often utilize the camps for camporees, Cuborees, and trainings. Troops, Packs, and Crews are encouraged to camp out and take part in the great programs offered throughout the year. Facilities are also available for rental from community organizations, chartered partners, and businesses, often at rates that can't touch those offered by other facilities. It's easy to see that the Dan Beard Council camps offer something for everyone!
