Cub Scout camping is fun and exciting! We all know Boy Scouts go camping, but spending time outdoors is just as much a part of the Cub Scout program. The Dan Beard Council offers three great summer camp opportunities to get your Cubs out and active while earning some advancement. Our programs are designed to be safe, productive, and engaging for everyone involved, and the variety of programs is sure to fit your family's busy summer schedule...
Resident Camp is the ultimate Cub Scout summer camp experience. This three-day and two night program is held during the summer at Cub World. Boys will have a chance to realize their full potential while taking part in one-of-a-kind activities, enjoying the old favorites, and immersing themselves in the theme of the Fort, the Castle, the Mountain Man Village, or the Miners Camp. Together with their den and others their age, your son will use the power of his imagination to be swept away to another time and place. Resident Camp is a great chance to earn advancements, get active in the outdoors, and make friendships that will last a lifetime. Our top-notch Cub World camp staff brings an enthusiasm that makes campers will be talking about the whole year-round. Pack leaders and parents in combination with the camp staff provide leadership and supervision. The facilities are second-to-none and meet the comfort level of Cub Scout age boys (and their parents!). Campers can attend as a pack, as a den, or as an individual.
Fun with Son is a parent and son experience. Cub Scouts and their families are invited for a one-night campout at Cub World where they will enjoy the "best of" activities including BB gun shooting, archery, swimming, games, and much more! Campers can choose to stay in any of the four theme areas. Everything is taken care of for you including lodging, meals, and a planned activity schedule run by the camp staff. Fun with Son campouts run three weekends of the summer, and campers can come as a pack, a den, or as a family.
Day and Twilight Camps are where the camp is brought to you! Thirteen camps are run throughout the council at local parks or camps. Day camps run from morning until mid-afternoon, while twilight camps run from early evening until dusk. These camps are perfect for any family's schedule. Activities include BB gun shooting, archery, arts and crafts, nature hikes, and of course Cub Scout advancement. Campers are grouped into dens and guided around camp by adult walkers. Each day camp has specialty programs such as guest speakers, fire department visits, water gun fights, and much more! Day camps are completely volunteer run, so this is a great opportunity to give back to Scouting and spend some quality time with your son. Day and Twilight campers sign up as individuals and can be grouped with a buddy or other Scouts from their pack.
So what are you waiting for? Turn off the video games, get out of the house, and go camping! These memorable camp experiences are what Scouting is all about, and your son is guaranteed to have fun, make new friends, and build a strong character in a safe and positive environment. Please check your District Calendar for information on Day/Twilight Camp.
