Cub Scout Adventure World
|
|
|
Cub Scout Adventure World, or
Cub World, opened in 2000 and is part of the Dan Beard Scout
Reservation. Cub World is a camp built just for Cub Scouts and offers a
world of excitement to any boy (and adults too!).
During the summer months, Cub World is home to the Adventure Camp and Fun with Son
program and provides a fun and memorable experience for thousands of Cub Scouts. For the
rest of the year, the camp serves as a great meeting and camping place for Scout
units and other groups, and hosts many exciting events and activities. Learn

Facilities
All of the facilities and building
at Cub World are available for reservation between mid-August
and early June. Click here for more information about Reserving Camp.
Read the descriptions below to learn more about the facilities
your group can use for their next event.
|
Fort
|

The Fort is an awe-inspiring structure from a distance and a portal to
the imagination up close. This large wooden building is located near
the main part of camp and can sleep 68 people. A
deck wraps around the whole building on the second story. |

There are three large activity rooms that enter from the courtyard.
Each activity room has several picnic tables, ceiling fans,
electrical outlets, and lights. |

A large courtyard runs through the center of the Fort, complete with a
flagpole. There are 13 rooms, some with eight bunk beds and some with
four. Each room has windows, lighting, and electrical outlets. A single
bathroom stall is near the entrance to the Fort (not available between
October and March due to winterization). |

The two turrets on the top of the Fort are great places to hold an
outdoor meeting or picnic. There are several tables on each as well as
overhead lighting. |
Castle
|

The Castle is located near the Activities Fields at Cub World. This
large stone building sleeps 72 people. A deck wraps around the entire structure with two turrets in the front
on the second story. |

A large courtyard runs through the center of the Castle. There are 14
sleeping rooms and two large activity rooms. A single bathroom is
located near the entrance to the Castle (not available between October
and March due to winterization). |

Some sleeping rooms have 8 bunk beds, some have 4 bunk beds. Each room
has lighting, electrical outlets, and windows. Most rooms have at least
one chair and several have writing desks. |
Mountain Man Village
|

The Mountain Man Village is a
unique way to camp and perfect for those new to the outdoors. Six
platforms, standing high in the air and built upon a wooded
hillside, make for a shady and cool place to camp. Each platform
holds six tents, making for a total capacity of 72 campers. At the bottom of
the hillside is a large pavilion with electrical outlets and water.
Across the road from the Mountain Man Village is a large shower house
with full facilities.
|
Miner's Camp
|

The Miner's Camp is the most primitive camping area of Cub World. Located at the end of camp and on the edge of Camp Friedlander,
this wooded area can sleep 72 campers in 36 canvas tents. There is
space available to bring your own tent. The mine is a great play place
for the young ones, as is the gold-panning creek that runs through the
area. |

A large activity shelter is located in the middle of the Miner's Camp.
The shelter has lighting, several picnic tables, a water pump, and
electrical outlets. |
Administration Building
|

The Cub World Administration Building, or "Admin", is located at the
entrance to camp. This building houses a large meeting area, several
offices, a first aid office, and three restrooms. It is also the
lodging quarters of the Campmaster during the off-season. |

The meeting area can hold up to
40 people with tables, more with just chairs. The building is heated
and air-conditioned, has cable and high-speed internet access, and free
Time-Warner digital phone long distance service.
|
Frisch's Dining Pavilion
|

The Frisch's Dining Pavilion is located near the entrance of camp and
is large enough to seat nearly any size group. Rows of picnic tables
make for a great place to hold a large meal, ceremony, or special
event. A kitchen area has refrigeration units and an ice maker, a
sink, and serving lines. A gas or charcoal grill is available for
rental. |

One of the highlights of Cub World is the Cub Scout Big Boy, lovingly
referred to as "Francis." He is one-of-a-kind and stands just outside
the dining pavilion to welcome Scout of all ages.
|
Activity Areas
|

An obstacle course, located at the center of camp, has eight elements
including a climbing wall, monkey bars, a rope swing, and a balance
beam. This course is perfect for teambuilding and fitness events. |

The Cub World Bouldering Wall is a challenge for the young and old
alike. This horizontal climbing wall offers two sides with two
different challenge levels. |
| A sand
volleyball court is located near the entrance to camp and makes for
great team competitions. There is also a basketball court with an
adjustable goal.
|

An amphitheater, adjacent to the Dining Pavilion, is ideal for
ceremonies and special events. Benches can seat nearly 400 people and
a large fire ring is great for campfires. |
Director's Cabin
|

The Director's Cabin is secluded from the other sleeping areas of camp.
This two-sided cabin can sleep four on each side. Each side has a
private restroom and shower. The cabin is heated and air-conditioned. |

The inside of the cabin is comfortable for a family or small group.
There is a queen-size bed, two bunk beds, a kitchenette with
refrigerator and stove-top, a dresser and closet, and cable and
high-speed internet access. |
Cabins
|

Cabins are available for rental and are heated for winter camping. A
shower house is located nearby and the Dining Pavilion and Administration Building are a short
walk away. There are four cabins. |

Cabins have four bunk beds, two wardrobes, and a writing desk on each
side. Each cabin has two sides. |
Shower houses
|

There are three shower houses located throughout the camp and close to
each sleeping area. Each shower house has four individual adult stalls
containing a shower, sink, and commode, and a youth side with multiple
showers, commodes, and sinks. Please note, only one shower house is open
for use during between October and March due to winterization. |
Lower Craig Activity Fields
|

Beyond the entrance to Cub World is the Camp Lower Craig area. This
camp consists of four very large fields separated by tree lines. These
fields are used mostly for large events such as
Peterloon, but can also
be reserved for camping. One field has canoe access to the Little Miami
River. |

There are two shelters located in the fields at Lower Craig. The Volunteer Shelter
sits here, which is also next to a outhouse. A water pump
is nearby, and both shelters have lighting and electrical
outlets. |
